April 23, 2004 Jerusalem-to-Bethlehem Peace Marathon : Fifteen Italian athletes arrived in Israel to participate in the Jerusalem-to-Bethlehem Peace Marathon, with the aim of encouraging peace in the region and Catholic pilgrimages to the Holy Land. Also arrived with them a delegation of 200 pilgrims and athletes, led by Cardinal Camillo Ruini, Vicar of the Diocese of Rome and president of the Italian Bishops Conference (In the picture) , and Dr. Gianni Petrucci, president of the Italian National Olympic Committee. Throughout the race, the athletes carried a torch lit and blessed by Pope John Paul II. The race route is 10 km long, and runs along the walls of Jerusalem's Old City and end in Bethlehem. The event is being organized by the Italian Bishops Conference, the Italian Olympics Committee, and Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi, body of the Holy See.

April 15, 2004 Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority, Jerusalem: The Tel-Aviv Cafe Europa program was launched in 2001 as a natural outcome of the Tel Aviv-Los Angeles Partnership. 300 Holocaust survivors meet weekly at two Tel Aviv locations. They have also connected with members at Cafe Europa in Los Angeles through video conferences.
